Missouri Writers Guild Conference

What a wonderful weekend at the Missouri Writers Guild conference! I enjoyed the information, the inspiration, and the conversations with other writers. Literary agent Pam van Hylckama Vlieg of Bookalicious led a small group discussion on blog book reviewing that inspired me to devote more time and creativity to blogging. Author Lela Davidson's breakout session, Search Engine Optimization for Writers, was full of great information on how to be found online by your target audience, and her ebook on the topic, Sexy, Smart and Search Engine Friendly, promises still more. C. Hope Clark, founder of Funds for Writers, gave an edifying and motivational luncheon keynote address. Get Published Coach Robin Colucci's Bestseller Blueprints taught us about the structure of successful books. And YA author and psychologist Sarah Fine's workshop, Writing the Teen, and master class, The Ins and Outs of Traumatizing Your Characters, gave me fantastic ideas for making my characters react authentically to story events. Now, refreshed and refueled, I can't wait to get back to work on my work-in-progress.
