Just want to go on record as saying I LOVE the film adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The Horn Book website has a great article about it here.
I'm also hearing great things about Wonderstruck. I plan to savor it over Christmas break.
I heard Brian Selznick speak at the National Book Festival in September and he said how pleased he was with how the movie was handled. He said he got a tour of the set by Martin Scorsese himself, and that Scorsese carried the book everywhere on set with him.
I plan to savor Wonderstruck too! My mom already read it and says it was better than Hugo Cabret in her opinion!
Lauren, how cool that you got to hear him speak! It's nice to know that Selznick was happy with the movie, and that Scorsese relied heavily on the book!

ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or are they really making better movies out of kidlit these days?
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, indeed.
I don't watch many movies, but getting curious about this one. :)
ReplyDeleteMirka--yes, and there seem to be more of them than ever. Guess we have Harry Potter to thank (or to blame, depending on your viewpoint!)
ReplyDeleteMarcia--my advice: Just do it!
