I spent most of the day at The Big Read in Clayton, Missouri. Billed as "a festival for book lovers", it's an event I attend every year. My husband works at the Municipal Library Consortium booth, but I just go to have fun!
This year's highlights:
- A panel discussion featuring mystery authors John Lutz, Qiu Xiaolong, Caroline Todd, and Claire Applewhite
- Heather Brewer's author talk about her Vladimir Todd series
- The Pitch-A-Palooza, in which forty people (including me!) had the opportunity to give a one-minute book pitch in front of an audience, followed by feedback from David Sterry and Arielle Eckstut, authors of The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published
- The used book sale, where I found several good additions to my classroom library
